Good Boost provides a flexible approach to supporting you with your muscle or joint pain through gentle aqua and land based exercise rehabilitation classes. Using information provided about your unique muscle or joint condition, sessions are individually tailored to allow you to progress through your exercises at your own pace and have been built by experts in order to reduce pain and improve your strength and mobility. The sessions last between 30-60 minutes (site dependant) and consist of a 10-minute warm up followed by a series of 3-4 minute individual exercises, with fun group activities in-between in order to maintain a comfortable body temperature. Both group and individual sessions are available (please check at your leisure facility). You will be given your own easy-to-use waterproof computer tablet during the session which will display your personalised exercises with clear animated diagrams. Your Good Boost facilitator will be in and around the pool throughout the session to support and guide you. The classes run at both West Park and Victoria Park leisure centres. HOW TO BOOK If you would like to attend our Good Boost classes, please take 5-minutes to complete your self referral form on the website. Your GP or healthcare practitioner can also refer you into the Good Boost courses. Once the referral has been received, the centre will contact you directly.

Accessible Walk & Talk

A gentle walk around West Park, Long Eaton. Suitable for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility. Walks are at a gentle easy going pace on flat terrain. Every third Saturday of each month from 1.30 pm until 3.30 pm. Start point – Outside West Park Leisure Centre, Wilsthorpe Road, Long Eaton, NG10 4AA.

A gentle walk around Rutland Sports Park athletics track which is a completely flat surface. Suitable for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility. Walks are at a gentle easy going pace using the flat surface of the athletics track. Every Friday from 10 – 11.30 am. Start point – Outside Rutland Sports Park, West End Drive, Ilkeston, DE7 5GH.

Sofa2Stroll+ (Elvaston Castle)

Accessible walks in nature aimed at helping those with chronic health conditions get out for a stroll. Walks are at a gentle easy going pace on flat terrain. Every third Thursday of the month from 10.30 am until 11.30 am and 12.30 pm for strollers that want to do more walking. Start point – Main car park at Elvaston Castle Country Park, Borrowash Road, Elvaston, Derby, DE72 3EP.

Sofa2Stroll+ (Straws Bridge)

Straws Bridge Nature Reserve Accessible walks in nature aimed at helping those with chronic health conditions get out for a stroll. Walks are at a gentle easy going pace on flat terrain. Every third Tuesday each month from 10.30am to 12.30pm which includes some time for a drink and chat at a local café. Start point - Main car park at Straws Bridge Nature Reserve, West Hallam, Ilkeston DE7 5FG

Monday Strollers

The Monday Strollers walking group meets every Monday, normally starting from Victoria Park Leisure Centre, Ilkeston at 10:15am. These are short walks to improve your health in pleasant company. Walks are usually flat, avoid stiles, circular or linear, and take about an hour. Everyone walks at their own pace, as trained leaders walk at the pace of the fastest and slowest walkers. Sturdy footwear and appropriate waterproofs are advised. The walks, up to 3½ miles long, are led by trained volunteers and provide gentle exercise to improve health in a friendly atmosphere. Walks last between 60-90 mins and are suitable for people looking to increase their activity levels, returning from injury or illness. A £1 contribution is requested to subsidise the on-going smooth running of our group. Sorry no dogs allowed.

Long Eaton Town Walk

A friendly welcoming group who enjoys a chat together as they take a gentle walk along a variety of local mainly circular routes for around an hour. Walks tend to be at a gentle easy going pace on flat terrain. Every Monday from 10 am until 11 am (apart from Bank Holidays). Start point - Long Eaton Town Hall, Derby Road, Long Eaton, NG10 1HU.

The Exercise by Referral scheme is a 12 week exercise program for people with long term health conditions. Speak to your GP or a healthcare professional to be referred. Healthcare professionals can make referrals here: https://derbyshirehealth.referral.org.uk/selfrefer The programme runs for 12 weeks, and you can choose to attend the supervised gym sessions, or you can attend the gym, swimming and classes independently once you have had your 1:1 consultation with our exercise professional. Our qualified exercise professional will write you a programme and be there to support you.

Or every Thursday at Ockbrook & Borrowash Parish Hall, Church St. 1:30-2:30pm. £6.50 per class. Organisation

We offer a variety of classes to suit all levels incorporating popular Tai Chi and Qigong styles. These include Yang and Sun-style Tai Chi and British Health Qigong Association (BHQA) routines. Our instructors are fully qualifies and experienced, holding qualifications from reputable organisations including the Tai Chi for Health Institute, Deyin Taijiquan Institute (GB) and the British Health Qigong Assosiation.
