Live Life Better Derbyshire offers FREE health and wellbeing support for people across Derbyshire. Whether you want to stop smoking, manage your weight or get more active, we are here to support you every step of the way.

We offer a variety of classes to suit all levels incorporating popular Tai Chi and Qigong styles. These include Yang and Sun-style Tai Chi and British Health Qigong Association (BHQA) routines. Our instructors are fully qualifies and experienced, holding qualifications from reputable organisations including the Tai Chi for Health Institute, Deyin Taijiquan Institute (GB) and the British Health Qigong Assosiation. A friendly mixed walking group for men and women who like a gentle ramble. Walks tend to be at a gentle easy going pace on flat terrain. Please note that a men’s walk takes place on the second Sunday in the month. Every first and third Sunday in the month from 10 am until 12 noon with a Men’s walking group on the second Sunday in the month. A gentle walk around Rutland Sports Park athletics track which is a completely flat surface. Suitable for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility. Walks are at a gentle easy going pace using the flat surface of the athletics track. Every Friday from 10 – 11.30 am. Start point – Outside Rutland Sports Park, West End Drive, Ilkeston, DE7 5GH.

Evening walks run throughout the year in the sunshine, moonlight, and stars! A safe, friendly, social group walking around Elvaston Castle Country Park. Every Thursday from 7 pm walking around 5km in 75 minutes. Start Point – Thulston Village green (close to the Harrington Arms pub), DE723EY

Every third Thursday of the month from 10.30 am until 11.30 am and 12.30 pm for strollers that want to do more walking. Start point – Main car park at Elvaston Castle Country Park, Borrowash Road, Elvaston, Derby, DE72 3EP.

Founded in 1971, a friendly mixed group of mostly retirees who walk in the local countryside, meeting every Tuesday and Thursdays to walk from varied locations around the borough. Each walk is split into a longer walk of about 2 hours and a shorter one of about an hour to suit all abilities, gathering afterwards for refreshments. A friendly women’s walking group for anyone who enjoys a gentle stroll and a good chat. Walks are circular with time for refreshments at the end. A fabulous way to get some fresh air, meet new people and enjoy a relaxed walk together. Every second Tuesday of the month starting from 10.30 am.
